The Lake Waikaremoana Track is a 46km walk around the 'sea of rippling waters' in Te Urewera, one of the most isolated parts of the North Island. The track passes through dense native bush, climbs to the Panekire Bluff with sweeping lake views, and links five DOC huts along the lakeshore. Bookings open once a year and popular summer dates sell out.
