The Routeburn Track is a 32km alpine crossing between Mount Aspiring and Fiordland National Parks, passing high above the treeline with views of the Darran Mountains and the Hollyford Valley. DOC limits hut bookings to keep the track uncrowded, and spots sell out fast when bookings open. Cancellations come up throughout the season as trampers change their plans.
