The Basin is the only campground in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, about 35km north of Sydney CBD. Access is by ferry from Palm Beach (a 20-minute crossing) or a steep 2.8km walk from West Head Road. With around 114 tent sites on the western shore of Pittwater, it's one of Sydney's most popular beach camping spots — and weekend bookings are highly competitive year-round.
