Whitehaven Beach is a 7km stretch of silica sand on Whitsunday Island, accessible only by boat from Airlie Beach. Camping is limited to around 36 people across 10 tent sites — no generators, no fires, no phone signal. You carry everything in and out. Permits book out well ahead for school holidays, but cancellations do come up as travel plans shift.
